About this plugin

Heatmap HUD makes your animation look like something is measuring it — and the measurements are real, taken from the artwork itself.

Draw a rectangle anywhere on your scene and it fills with false-colour contour bands traced from the artwork underneath: real vector bands, not a bitmap, so they scale and recolour cleanly. Five ramps, from instrument-panel Thermal to Viridis and Turbo. Regions can ride the artwork as it moves, re-trace their contours as it animates, and each can appear and disappear on its own schedule.

Around that sits a tracking overlay that stays attached to what it's tracking. Anchors fix to points on the outline rather than to a bounding box, so a bracket placed on the tip of a wing is still on that tip forty frames later. From there: brackets + coordinates, constellation, motion trail, callouts, and scan — where every marker gets a life: born, held, released, with a set number alive at once. That last one is the difference between a diagram that happens to move and something that reads as working.

Five presets get you a look in one click. A size warning tells you not just how big the result is but which setting is responsible for it. Labels are drawn with a built-in vector font, so there's no font to go missing in any player.

The overlay is authored as Lottie and lands as a single tagged layer. Re-inserting replaces it. Removing deletes it. Your artwork is never modified.
